| Looking For The Best Beaches In The World? |
Beaches have been around for centuries-yes, even Victorian-era gents and birds once sat on the sand basking in the sun. Usually a beach is in reference to a geological landform that consists of loose rock particles (like sand, gravel or pebbles) along the shoreline of a large body of water. The most famous and beloved beaches are located next to coastal areas of the ocean. There are also artificial beaches, which are man-made creations, either permanently set in place or temporarily, and that mimic the soothing qualities of a naturally created beach.
Beaches are sure-thing attractions for international tourism, a billion dollar industry. In fact, the high quality of beaches is a major issue for some countries that earn millions to billions of dollar in revenue because of hot tourist spots. The best recreational beaches are awarded a "blue flag" status, based on criteria such as water quality and safety provision. The blue flag (as well as the cleaning and sanitary practice that keep the status) is very important, as a loss of this status can affect tourist revenue.
Where are these blue flag beaches? They are scattered all over the world and in various countries. There are nine blue flag status beaches in Ontario, Canada including Cherry Beach and Gibraltar Point Beach. In the Dominican Republic there are four beaches including the beautiful Coson in Las Terrenas and Laguna in Bayahibe. There are also other blue flag status beaches in Puerto Rico, Ireland, Italy and South Africa, among 2672 blue flag beaches and 640 marinas across the world.
However, some beaches are popular regardless of their worldwide status. Florida beaches are very popular and include a wide selection of beaches such as Daytona Beach, Panama City Beach, Miami Beach and Seagrove Beach. Myrtle Beach is arguably the most popular beach in all of the United States, though Long Beach, California continues to pack in crowds.
There are also foreign locations that have earned respect from travelers all over the world. These include beaches in Phi, Phi Thailand, particularly in the winter season, as well as the Natadola Beach in Fiji, with its beautiful white sands and beach-related water sports. Negril, Jamaica lives up to its reputation (and look for a discount in the winter season on hotel rates) while Cancun continues to serve up the "real" beach party, as spring breakers know it.
A beach vacation is a great place to relax-regardless of where in the world you travel!
